In the early 1920s, my mother’s Italian parents came to America through Ellis Island and settled in Brooklyn, New York. To support their large family of ten children during the Great Depression, Grandpa purchased bananas and other fruit at the docks and then sold them at his curbside fruit stand. To help pay bills, Grandma sewed at home for paying customers.
I am always deeply touched by this scene from Cinderella Man, and think of my grandparents—underdog boxer James J. Braddock and his family suffered economically during the Great Depression, but his courage and example became a beacon of light to a country in need of hope. Watch it all or skip to 2:06:
Throughout history wicked and conspiring rulers supported illegal immigration to weaken national sovereignty while secretly a small minority plunders the nation’s wealth. We must not be fooled by this deception.
Let’s thank Congressman Jason Chaffetz for his six years of public service and release him so he can serve his country in another capacity. Vote Robert Stevens for Congress. Let me show you what I can do.
More in Immigration
I believe in legal immigration as ratified by the Utah Republican Party:
America is a stronger and better nation because of the hard work and entrepreneurial spirit of legal immigrants, and the Republican Party honors them. We believe that control of our borders is an urgent national security interest and our national sovereignty depends on those secure borders.
We oppose illegal immigration and all forms of amnesty, or legal status, for illegal immigrants. We support suspending automatic U.S. citizenship to children born to illegal immigrant parents. We oppose granting government benefits to those illegally present in the US. We oppose any temporary or “guest” worker program that would offer an automatic path to citizenship. We believe that current laws against employing illegal immigrants should be vigorously enforced, particularly to stem the now too common crime of identity theft in obtaining employment.
