GMOs are Not Fully Tested and Potentially DANGEROUS!

Having developed software for thirty years, I will give you a new perspective about generically modified organisms (GMOs) and genetically modified foods (GM foods).

We don’t understand the programming of God—period. When anyone else alters it and tells us their changes are safe, they are guessing. They cannot properly test their changes. There are just too many variables and potential unforeseen consequences. Even if they could follow the scientific method, each test would take decades.

Even worse, testing all potentially valid combinations could take centuries. For example, scientists discovered GM corn causes liver damage in rats.1 Does it also cause damage in the animals we eat? What effects does that have on humans?2

Don’t Try This at Home

Using a special programmer’s editor you can edit any man-made computer program on your hard drive and see a long series of ones and zeros which represent the program and its data in binary format. Now suppose you changed a few ones to zeros or zeros to ones, saved the program and ran it. What are the chances you may break something?3

Even if you get lucky, what are the chances you may later discover problems?

My example is a fairly accurate comparison of GMO tinkering. Until scientists understand God’s programming, they are just guessing.

One Big Warning

Recently at a Provo grocery store I spoke with an overweight female cashier. I told her how we try to avoid all refined sugars, processed foods, pesticides and GMOs. I remarked there were few edible items in her store that we’d want to eat. Her reply startled me, “It feels like they are trying to kill us.”

Before I refrain from further exploring this subject, you may enjoy Mike Adam’s article, Battle for humanity nearly lost: global food supply deliberately engineered to end life, not nourish it.

GMO Labeling

Can we trust GMO companies who launch massive campaigns to hide what’s in the food we buy?5 Vermont didn’t—see Vermont Senate votes 26-2 for GMO labeling.

Because of the reasons above, I am completely against genetically modified foods until they can be accurately tested, but am certainty for mandatory GMO labeling. Using my formulas for good government, labeling GMO products informs the public and enhances their ability to choose.

A Better Way

Our Creator filled our planet with a wide variety of edible foods. When eaten in their natural state or as close to it as possible, they nourish. Utah gardener Caleb Warnock reports in his book The Forgotten Skills of Self-Sufficiency Used by the Mormon Pioneers,6 that thousands of varieties of fruits and vegetables known to our pioneer forefathers are very difficult find. Caleb feeds his family mostly from his year-round, backyard gardens. He also makes his own natural pesticides, shampoo and toothpaste.

Mankind has just begun innovating with natural foods and plants—the number of potential combinations (or permutations) using God’s abundant creations are endless.

Let’s thank Congressman Jason Chaffetz for his six years of public service and release him so he can serve his country in another capacity. Vote Robert Stevens for Congress. Let me show you what I can do.

3No software company modifies code in this manner except for in extremely rare times of urgent necessity, usually when the original high-level code is lost. Such changes are usually limited to textual changes, not programming changes.

4 I remain intrigued by the 1833 Mormon scripture warning of evils and designs which do and will exist in the hearts of conspiring men in the last days. In regard to human food, drinks and health, what possibly have men conspired about in 1833?
